Offering your talents to others
Yes -- I'm still alive. I had a busy couple of weeks and have finally got a second to write here.
Well, I had a great time this past Friday singing at the Texas Children's Hospital. Carol Herron, who runs their Arts program for the kids was a great help to me and has asked me to return. I'm definitely going to do that. Being able to help others in whatever capacity I can, is more than sufficient compensation for myself. I've said it before, but I truly believe we are all here to help one another, and not for our own wants.
Just a note that if you too are looking for somewhere to start....Volunteer yourself. Look for festivals or organizations that need entertainment or might like it. Yeah, you won't get paid -- But the reward far outweighs that. Plus...you get to practice singing. And if that's what you shine at best -- Go for it!
Google up festivals in your local area or state. You can find it if you search. Here in Texas, as an example, the state has a site that tells you of upcoming events that are looking for music and singers.
